Email Account Advice
Almost every internet competition requires you to provide an email address, this is so that the competition organisers can contact you to let you know you have won, tell you about special offers, or give other information.
From our experience we can tell you that if you enter many competitions you will receive a lot of additional email, even though we try and minimise the amount by declining offers where we can. With WeWin4u you have two options:
We can help you set up a free email account
We can open an account for you with a 3rd party free email
account provider (similar to Hotmail). We will fill in the
details for you, and the account provider will send you an activation
email to switch on the account. All you have to do then is
forward it to us, and we'll get you started
- we'll send you full instructions in your joining email. You should remember that free email accounts can be withdrawn by the
provider if they are abused or neglected - you must check your account
regularly, but this is good practice anyway as you may discover you
have won a prize. You should also delete any unwanted
mails and unsubscribe from 'newsletters' to ensure that you do not use up the free space allowance.
You
can use an email account you already have
Most
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide a number of mailboxes as
part of your connection package, and you can use one of these.
Alternatively you may have an existing free account you would like to
use. You can use your current email address but we would advise
against this as you will find the volume of competition related mails
may make it difficult for you to find your other correspondence.
However, an advantage of using a mailbox provided by your ISP is that
it will not have the restrictions of many free accounts and may have
additional spam-protection.

Can I choose any email account name I like for my free
account?
Yes, but you should avoid using real words, and you need at least 7
lower case characters. We recommend something based around a
name or nickname, rather than 's03849x' or 'givemeallyourprizes',
although they would be valid. If the name you choose is
unavailable we will try to find a close match.
Can I use the same
account for my correspondence and my competitions?
Yes, but we don't recommend it because you will find it difficult to
separate the two. Companies run competitions to attract business
and once they have your details they will communicate with you,
sometimes quite regularly. Even though we always try to decline
correspondence this sometimes isn't an option, so an email account
just for your competition entries neatly avoids this problem.
